Assistant Production Chef

Job title:  Assistant Production Chef

Reports to: Café Manager

Overview:

Team Domenica is a Brighton-based social enterprise charity supporting young people with learning disabilities into paid employment. By removing barriers to work, we help young people to discover their full potential, to live happy fulfilled lives, and to feel included within the local community.

We are looking for an Assistant Production Chef to work closely with our Production Chef and Café Manager at our Preston Road café.

You will need to be a fast thinker, have lots of get up and go and be able to use your initiative. You will be working alongside our small team supporting our candidates, training them in the kitchen and getting them prepared for the world of work.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic
  • Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients
  • Helping to prepare food for our café and cooking/baking for our online shop
  • Processing and responding to our online shop orders, distributing and shipping orders in a timely manner
  • Working as part of a team to ensure our products are appropriately marketed both online and in our cafés
  • Working with our candidates to help them gain independence and confidence within the workplace
  • Serving customers and operating the till
  • Offering customers excellent standards of customer service and care
  • Ensuring that the café environment is pleasant and welcoming
  • Cleaning the prep area and café area in accordance with health and safety regulations and guidance

Requirements:

  • Having a friendly and engaging personality, a good communicator and able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Being adaptable to changing situations, willing to adapt to meet the demands of the company across our café sites if needed.
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • To enjoy working with other people
  • The ability to use your initiative
  • Experience of working in a café/kitchen
  • A keen baker/ cook with a willingness to support our candidates, and increase their training opportunities.
  • Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities is preferable but not essential
  • DBS check is required for this role prior to commencing employment.

Contract: Zero Hour Part Time Contract (16-20 hours pw week across November and December)

Salary: £9ph
